Greece- Budget 2024 - Proposed VAT changes

The Greece Budget for 2024 was submitted to Parliament on 21st November 2023  and included the following proposed amendments relating to VAT.

- The reduced VAT rate of 13% introduced on a temporary basis as part of relief measures during the COVID 19 pandemic for transportation, gyms, dance schools, cinemas, and various health related products will be made permanent.
- The reduced VAT rate of 13% will continue to apply to coffee and taxi services until 30th June 2024, after which it would revert to the standard VAT rate of 24%
- The VAT rate on non alcoholic drinks served (soft drinks) would be restored to the standard VAT rate of 24% from 1st January 2024.
